Mentoring that Connects Latina Professionals to Latina Students in High School through College
Latinas are the fastest growing and will account for 25% of total female workforce by 2050. Latinas represent only 2 percent of the nations professionals in STEM, Medicine, Finance and Law fields. Our cell phone app “Ask The Latina” matches Latina professionals to Latina students interested in pursuing these fields.
Why Mentorship?
If you’re a high school student, especially after the pandemic, there is a lot of stress and confusion about what you want to do after graduation. Even if you are a new college student, you may be the first generation. You need a mentor to keep you motivated and to learn the ins and outs of college life. Often having a trusted adult to talk to is hard to find. Academic counselors may help but learning from a Latina professional who has already overcome similar issues may be just what you need.
Latinas in STEM, Medical, Finance, and Law professions want to see more Latinas enter college and successfully get a degree in their field. Often they are first-generation and have the wisdom and cultural knowledge to guide a Latina student, both in high school and college.
